5 Ways to Enjoy Some Quality Me-Time

by Ashley

Every #kitgirl needs a little me-time on the regular but amazingly, somehow many of us still struggle to feel we deserve it! Our days consist of juggling meetings, chauffeuring the kids between school and their extracurriculars, crushing our workouts, keeping the house clean and cooking 3 meals a day (plus snacks ya’ll) - and that’s all on top of trying to maintain a meaningful, sexy, insta-worthy vibe.

Really, it’s ree-donk-you-lous! Please let’s all make a pinky promise that we will start taking some time for ourselves! If not daily – then start with at least 3-5 times/week. And no worries – we’ve got some fab options for you to try out!

Face Masks

These are a great way to unwind, clear your skin up and leave you feeling refreshed. My personal favorite is a DIY oatmeal facial. Combine ½ cup of warm water and 1/3 cup of oatmeal then, mix in 2 tbsp. plain yogurt, 2 tbsp. honey and 1 egg white. Apply the face mask and let it sit for 10 minutes. Simply rinse off with warm water to leave your skin looking beautiful!

Bubble Baths

These babies hold the answers to many stress related problems. So, pour yourself a glass of vino, light some

candles, and relax! Grab a book, or even put on your favorite movie and enjoy those bubbles. To enhance your bath,

you can add different ingredients. Epson salts are great when you’re sore and help your muscles relax. You can also add essential oils depending on your needs! Lavender, basil, lemon grass, tea tree, and chamomile oils are all wonderful for your skin. If you have a headache from the stress of the day, add some fresh ginger to your bath to help detox and sweat out toxins. If you’re restless and need some help calming down, add some fresh lavender to help you fall asleep after your bath. Coconut oil is great for just about everything, but did you know you could add it to your bath for softer skin?

Coconut Oil

While we’re on the subject of coconut oil, this staple is the perfect for hair masks! Yes, I said it. Hair masks. Coconut oil softens hair and prevents split ends and breakage. It also keeps hair looking shiny and healthy. Simply mix coconut oil and honey in a pan and melt. Allow it to cool and massage into your hair. Wash it out 20 minutes later and you’re left with gorgeous hair! Pampering yourself is a great way to unwind and leaves you feeling gorgeous.

Me-time is not complete without a relaxing playlist. My go-to tunes for relaxation is the Relax & Unwind by Spotify. This playlist has 71 songs that will help the stress of the day melt away. It includes songs by Hozier, Mumford & Sons, James Bay, The Lumineers, and Vance Joy. In other words, it’s the perfect soothing playlist!

Journaling is a wonderful way to unwind and get your thoughts about the day down on paper. Most of the time, my creative ideas come from the time I set aside to journal! I use my kitlife planner to let it all out and plan for the days ahead. Something about being organized and prepared is SO relaxing to me! Journal about what makes you happy, what you want to work on or the goals you have for the future. And above all, don’t forget to journal about all that your grateful for too!

If you find yourself still resistant to the idea of me-time as a necessary and vital part of self-care – check out this article from Greatist. It offers 25 ways in which you can (and should) take time for YOU! And we are happy to say that most (if not all these are suggestions) Team KIT have been making for several years.

For those of you already on board with regular me-time, we salute you! We’d love to hear your favorite tips on relaxation? So grab that camera and post a selfie during your me-time to show us! It could be drinking your cup of tea, journaling, or making a silly face with your face mask on. Set aside some time this week for YOU!
